When everyone was working from home - including the kids - when COVID was at its height, space was a precious commodity. A Freehold family needed a dedicated space for the kiddos to do their school work that wasn’t the home office or the kitchen island.
Woodhaven Custom Closets turned an unused alcove space that was between, but clearly separate from, the kitchen and the family room into a custom ‘homework station’ (or work study environment) using a variety of closet components for an elegant looking, yet affordable solution.
The Custom Closet team used white melamine with transition door and drawer front and a Wilsonart melamine countertop in Phantom Charcoal to create the final space/look. A couple of glass doors were incorporated at the top to add elegance to the functional space and help tie it into the overall look of the home. Care was also taken to work with/around the existing crown moulding, chair rail, and applied moulding boxes that the family wanted to keep intact.
The result: a sophisticated approach to tackling homework and storing out of sight all the materials and tools needed to get that A+.
One of the best parts of this job - it was a second opportunity to work with this family who we had worked with before when they outfitted their home with custom closets throughout including a master bedroom walk-in closet, kids room storage, and all other secondary closets!
