A Master Bathroom Requiring Form and Function
Millstone, New Jersey
Starting with a vacant shell, a Millstone, New Jersey couple needed to build out their master bathroom. They envisioned a refined, peaceful aesthetic for the space. They also had several specific accommodations for functionality to be worked into the design. With such a dynamic punch list, they needed a team who could think outside the box and work closely with their contractor to create the exact look they were seeking. After visiting several design centers, they found confidence in Woodhaven’s bathroom design team.
Spa-like Luxury
A carefully curated mix of materials and soothing colors make the master bath feel like a luxurious spa, achieving a perfect blend of warmth and brightness. The homeowner wanted an L-shaped layout to accommodate double sinks along two walls with ample functional space in between. The resulting custom vanity is the star of the show. Raised-panel cabinetry doors from Fabuwood add classic elegance. Finished in a creamy, warm gray dubbed “Nickel,” they emphasize the contemporary spa-like feel of the space. Knobs and pulls in polished chrome from Emtek’s Geometric collection of hardware drive home the look of understated, sleek luxury.
Beautifully Custom Cabinetry
In the corner of the L-shaped vanity, the homeowner envisioned a show-stopping, glass-front cabinet. The designer used various pieces from the Fabuwood line to put together a completely custom piece that looks gorgeous. The ceiling-height corner cabinet perfectly accommodates the straightforward practicality and increased storage the homeowner desired for this space. They further customized the vanity by including a slide-out cabinet for housing a built-in hamper, a feature that amplifies the calm, organized bathroom.
Upscale Walk-In Shower
Next, it was time to address the shower. Carrying through the vaulted ceiling of the bathroom, they designed a custom walk-in shower with full glass doors. They had to balance keeping the space feeling open and airy, while still welcoming and warm. Playing off the wall of mirrors around the vanity, the entire space shimmers with natural light. The tile around the shower and soaking tub meets at the vanity, offering a high-end, built-in look. For both the shower floor and vanity border, they chose silhouette mosaic tile. Originating from Italy, it is one of the most iconic marbles in the industry, featuring soft contrasts and graceful patterns for added dimension. The shower walls were finished in a creamy porcelain 24” x 48” large-format tile by Iceland Statuario for a modern, designer feel. For the floor they switched to 24” x 24” tiles in the same line to achieve a seamless look with a bit of differentiation.
Close Work with the Contractor for a Smooth Project
Even with a project of this scale, the homeowners remained at ease throughout the entire process, thanks in large part to Woodhaven’s close collaboration with their contractor. Clear, consistent communication and unified expectations made for a smooth project. And the resulting master en-suite completely nailed the mark in regard to both look and functionality.
“Woodhaven had everything I needed for my bath renovation, and Krystina made the process easy and enjoyable. She was knowledgeable, responsive, and kept everything organized and on track. I’m thrilled with the result.”
